Intergroup Relations

Though most of my work focuses explicitly on political violence between groups, I am also interested in understanding broader patterns of intergroup contention and cooperation. In this area, I have examined the role of gender attitudes in shaping voting behavior, the long-term antecedents of attitudes toward refugees, and the role of emotions in shaping public opinion. My current book project Beyond Rationality (with Alex Mintz & Nicholas Valentino) also emphasizes behavioral approaches to the study of intergroup relations, broadly defined.
